Vana at a glance.
Vana is an EVM-compatible Proof of Stake Layer 1 developed by Open Data Labs, with its mainnet and VANA token going live in December 2024. It is designed so people can contribute personal data into shared pools, keep control over it, and earn from its use in applications such as AI model training. Here is how it works and what it is used for, not the price.

How Vana works.
Validators stake VANA to produce and validate blocks, and holders can stake toward validators to help secure the chain. Alongside block consensus, Vana uses a process it calls Proof of Contribution to score the quality of data added to its pools, and data is checked inside Trusted Execution Environments in a validator set the project calls the Satya Network so the raw data stays private.

Data Liquidity Pools
A Data Liquidity Pool gathers contributed data into a shared, governed pool. Contributors keep control of their data and can be rewarded based on its assessed quality and use.
DataDAOs
A DataDAO is a community that runs a data pool, governs how the data is used, and can issue its own token to members who contribute.
Proof of Contribution
This process scores the quality and value of contributed data so rewards reflect what each contribution adds, rather than rewarding volume alone.
Private validation
Data is validated inside Trusted Execution Environments in the Satya Network, which lets the network certify data without exposing the underlying records.
What Vana is used for.
Vana is used to pool, govern, and monetize user-contributed data for applications such as AI.
User-owned data
People contribute personal data to a pool, keep control of how it is used, and can earn from its use in applications.
Data for AI
Pooled, permissioned datasets can be supplied to AI model training and other data-hungry applications.
Staking and governance
VANA holders stake toward validators to help secure the chain and take part in network governance.
