MANTRA at a glance.
MANTRA is a Cosmos-based Layer 1 aimed at bringing regulated, real-world assets on-chain, such as real estate and other institutional products, with identity and compliance modules built in. Its mainnet went live in October 2024, and the native token uses the ticker OM. Here is how it works and what it is used for, not the price.

How MANTRA works.
MANTRA is built with the Cosmos SDK and reaches agreement using CometBFT, a proof-of-stake consensus engine. A validator set proposes and votes on blocks, giving fast finality so transactions confirm in seconds. Holders of the OM token can stake to validators to help secure the network and earn a share of rewards. The chain connects to other Cosmos networks through the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol.

Cosmos SDK Layer 1
MANTRA is its own Layer 1 blockchain built with the Cosmos SDK, a framework for building application-specific chains. This lets the network include modules tailored to regulated assets rather than relying on general-purpose contracts alone.
Compliance modules
MANTRA includes protocol-level features for identity and permissioning, intended to let issuers meet regulatory requirements when they tokenize assets. This is the design focus that sets it apart from general-purpose chains.
OM token
OM is the native token. It is used to pay transaction fees, to stake to validators for network security, and to vote on governance. On this site the price page lists it under MANTRA.
IBC and dual smart contracts
Through the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol, MANTRA can transfer assets and data with other Cosmos chains. The network supports CosmWasm smart contracts and adds Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility for EVM-style applications.
What MANTRA is used for.
The ecosystem is built around tokenized real-world assets and the compliance tooling that issuers and institutions use to bring them on-chain.
Real-world asset tokenization
MANTRA is designed for issuing tokenized real-world assets, such as real estate and institutional financial products, with identity and permissioning handled at the protocol level.
Staking and governance
Holders can stake OM to validators to help secure the network and earn rewards, and can vote on proposals that decide how the chain changes over time.
Cross-chain transfers
Using the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol, assets and data can move between MANTRA and other Cosmos networks without a separate bridge service.
