What is IOTA?
IOTA is a distributed ledger project designed for the Internet of Things, aiming to let machines transact with each other at low or no cost. It originally used a directed acyclic graph structure called the Tangle rather than a traditional blockchain, though the network has evolved significantly over the years. The IOTA token is used for transactions on the network. The project has worked through multiple protocol versions, and IOTA 2.0 introduced a fully decentralized consensus mechanism, marking a significant shift from earlier designs that relied on a coordinator node.
