Conflux

CFX

Conflux is a Layer 1 that pairs a Tree-Graph ledger with a hybrid proof-of-work and proof-of-stake design, and runs an EVM-compatible space alongside its original chain. Its native token is CFX.

Overview

Conflux at a glance.

Conflux runs two spaces: a Core Space built on its Tree-Graph consensus and an EVM-compatible eSpace for Ethereum tooling. Here is how it works and what it is used for, not the price.

How it works

How Conflux works.

Conflux orders transactions with a Tree-Graph ledger, which arranges blocks as a graph rather than a single chain so several blocks can be processed together. The GHAST rule decides which blocks count toward the agreed history. A proof-of-work layer produces blocks while a proof-of-stake layer was later added to provide finality and added security.

Consensus: Hybrid PoW and PoS (Tree-Graph, GHAST)

Conflux orders transactions with a Tree-Graph ledger, which arranges blocks as a graph rather than a single chain so several blocks can be processed together. The GHAST rule decides which blocks count toward the agreed history. A proof-of-work layer produces blocks while a proof-of-stake layer was later added to provide finality and added security.

Tree-Graph ledger

Blocks are organized as a graph instead of one linear chain, which lets the network reference and confirm multiple blocks at once.

GHAST rule

GHAST is the rule that selects the main history from the graph and weights blocks, keeping ordering consistent as blocks arrive in parallel.

Core Space and eSpace

Core Space uses Conflux native addresses and consensus, while eSpace is a separate EVM-compatible environment that runs Ethereum smart contracts and tooling.

Hybrid PoW and PoS

Proof of work produces blocks and a later proof-of-stake layer adds finality, so the two mechanisms work together to secure the chain.

Ecosystem & usage

What Conflux is used for.

CFX is used to pay transaction fees, to stake, and to take part in network governance, with applications spread across Core Space and the EVM-compatible eSpace.

DefiLlama

Transaction fees

CFX pays the gas that processes transactions and runs smart contracts across both spaces.

Staking

Holders can lock CFX to take part in the proof-of-stake layer and related network functions.

EVM applications

Developers deploy Ethereum-style contracts on eSpace while reaching the wider Conflux network.

FAQ

Common questions.

What consensus does Conflux use?
It uses a hybrid model that combines proof of work and proof of stake over a Tree-Graph ledger ordered by the GHAST rule.
What is the difference between Core Space and eSpace?
Core Space uses Conflux native addresses and its Tree-Graph consensus, while eSpace is an EVM-compatible environment for Ethereum smart contracts and tooling.
What is CFX used for?
CFX pays transaction fees, can be staked, and is used in network governance.
How fast does Conflux confirm transactions?
The Tree-Graph design is built to confirm transactions within about a minute.
Can I hold CFX in Zypto App?
Not yet. CFX isn't in Zypto App at the moment. You can hold it in any self-custodial wallet, and you can ask us to add Conflux using the "Request Conflux" button above.
