What is Mantle?
Mantle is an Ethereum layer-2 network designed to make transactions faster and cheaper while staying compatible with Ethereum tooling. Launched in 2021, it processes activity off the main chain and settles back to Ethereum, helping reduce costs for users and applications. The MNT token is used for network fees and governance, letting holders participate in decisions about the ecosystem's direction. Mantle is supported by a large treasury and a wider initiative spanning DeFi and related products. As scaling demand grows, layer-2 networks like Mantle aim to keep Ethereum usable at lower cost.
