What Happens If You Lose the Vault Key Card?

Losing the Vault Key Card does not remove funds, reset wallets, or block access to Zypto App.

The Vault Key Card controls transaction authorization only. When it is lost, nothing happens automatically. Wallets, balances, and activity remain visible and unchanged inside Zypto App.

Understanding this behavior requires separating access from approval.

Nothing Happens Automatically

If a Vault Key Card is lost, no action is triggered by default.

Wallets attached to the card remain exactly as they were. Balances are still visible. Transaction history remains intact. Zypto App continues to function normally.

The only change is that protected wallets cannot approve new transactions while the card remains linked and unavailable.

Why Transactions Cannot Be Approved Without the Card

When a wallet is attached to the Vault Key Card, transaction approval requires physical card presence.

Transfers, swaps, and other on chain actions must be confirmed by tapping the physical Vault Key Card on the device using NFC. Without the card, approval cannot take place.

This behavior is intentional. The absence of the card prevents authorization rather than weakening security.

Viewing and Managing Wallets After Card Loss

Losing the card does not lock users out of their wallets.

Balances remain visible. Assets remain on chain and non custodial, as normal in Zypto App. Wallets can still be reviewed and monitored without restriction.

The card affects approval only. It does not affect visibility or ownership.

How to Transact After Losing a Vault Key Card

If a user needs to transact after losing a Vault Key Card, the wallet must be restored using its original recovery method.

The Vault Key Card cannot be unlinked or bypassed without the original card present. To regain transaction capability, the wallet must be removed and reimported into Zypto App using its seed phrase.

Once reimported, the wallet operates as an app only signing wallet. Transactions can then be approved directly within Zypto App.

Reimporting does not change balances, history, or asset location. It restores signing ability without the lost card.

Waiting for a Replacement Card

If immediate transactions are not required, users may choose to leave the wallet as is and wait.

While the card remains linked and absent, approval remains disabled. Wallet visibility and asset ownership remain unchanged.

If a replacement Vault Key Card is obtained, it can be linked again after restoring the wallet, reintroducing physical authorization.

Reintroducing Cold Authorization Protection

Once a wallet has been restored using its seed phrase, a new Vault Key Card can be attached if desired.

After attachment, transaction approval once again requires physical card presence. The wallet resumes operating under card based authorization.

This process treats loss as an operational event, not a security failure.

Loss as a Manageable Event

The Vault Key Card is designed so that loss does not imply compromise.

Because authorization is physically gated and assets are never stored on the card, losing the card does not expose funds or private keys. It prevents transaction approval until the wallet is restored through its seed phrase.

Card loss is handled as an operational event, not a security failure.
